Atlantic Toyota Shoppers May See the Prius V Hybrid Wagon Soon; Fall is the Target U.S. Release

Atlantic Toyota and Huntington Toyota customers may be excited to hear that the Prius v hybrid wagon is coming to the U.S. this fall. There may have been problems getting all the parts needed to release the Prius v on time in Japan and other markets due to the earthquake and tsunami shortages, but the U.S. will see the newest member soon.

Although the regular-sized Prius is spacious, there was still not enough room to fit a family, and the Prius v is the solution to the extra needed space. With more spacious room, the v is a versatile alternative to the smaller hatchback.

“The Prius v brings leading-edge hybrid technology to customers who need more room and provides more cargo space than 80 percent of all small SUVs,” said Toyota Division Group Vice President and General Manager Bob Carter in a Toyota press release. “And because it’s a Prius, it produces 66 percent fewer smog-forming emissions than the average new vehicle and will have the best mileage ratings of any SUV, crossover, or wagon sold in America. We think that’s a win-win for everybody.”

Although there is the same hybrid technology in the Prius v as the previous models—Hybrid Synergy Drive—the Prius v has less fuel economy. The fuel mileage is 44 mpg city and 40 mpg highway, which is still higher than most vehicles on the market, while the Prius before it has 51 mpg city and 48 mpg highway. Atlantic Toyota and Huntington Toyota customers may know that the bigger size of the Prius v is what has changed the mileage ratings.

Atlantic Toyota and Huntington Toyota customers should know the specifications of the Prius v include:

1.8-liter, four-cylinder, 98-horsepower Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine
Two high-output electric motors, adding 80-horsepower unit for a total of 134 horsepower
Four driving modes are available – standard, Eco, EV and Power
Speeds up to about 25 mph on battery power alone
50 percent more cargo space than in the smaller hatchback

Technology added to the Prius v includes 6.1-inch color LCD screen, back-up camera, Bluetooth capability, premium JBL audio system with a hard-drive navigation system and Toyota’s Entune multimedia system.

Prices have not been announced by Toyota yet, but the v is expected to range from $ 25,000 to $ 27,000.

Atlantic Toyota and Huntington Toyota customers will be able to visit dealerships by the end of the year to pick out the Prius v that suits their family’s’ needs.
